The situation
The same problem as ClaudeUsageBar, on a different quota. Codex meters a session window and a weekly window, and nothing surfaced either until the request that failed told you.
What we built
- Native menu bar app in Swift and SwiftUI, universal binary, signed and notarised
- Session and weekly windows refreshed every five minutes, with per-model limits appearing on their own once a separately metered model is used
- Threshold notifications at 25, 50, 75 and 90 percent, so a long task can be wrapped up rather than cut off
- Reads the sign-in already on the machine, talks only to first-party endpoints, ships no analytics
